I do not know if I had said this before, but in case I had, I will recap:
I don't have my high school diploma. The reason for this is simple, and yet annoying: I am absurdly bad at mathematics.
Because of this, I repeatedly lost the local exit examination for Math (which are done by the government, in a fashion similar to the GPA/MCAT). Since 2002, repeatedly taken, repeatedly lost. Jobs I have I've gotten because it was the ones that didn't required the diploma (and the market over here is pretty bad without it, let me tell you that-you need it to even be able to sweep streets).
Drove me to some pretty shitty depression, for a moment. Thought also that it was divine punishment (for what, I don't know-I can say that I try but I am not a saint. Some guys got struck by lightning, some were turned into salt statues, I got shitty math grades). Studied my ass off under various tutors (one of which, I am sorry to say, passed away about a month ago (and ironically, he was the one who got me closest to pass. I am most sorry that I couldn't give him the satisfaction of being another of his successes)).
But this changed today, on this day about to end (11:31 P.M., local C.R. time of Wednesday April 8th).
I passed the test. I honestly could not believe it-I thought that it was a clerical error, or probably that I was hallucinating or was even asleep (have some pretty lucid dreaming, let me tell you that, when I actually *can* dream)...
...no, it was true. I had passed. Sure, pretty much close to the wire, but I PASSED!
I am still in shock. I still cannot believe it. But I am definitely going tomorrow to my high school to request my diploma to be given to me ASAP, and continue my studies on my community college, and carry on my work (and, with some luck, find a better one).
I can only thank God for this. It is, in the true sense of the word, a miracle.
